The Relationship Between Dog and Human

Dogs are a a huge part of human society. Throughout the world there are hundreds of millions of people who keep dogs as pets. One reason for this is a dogs ability to fit into human households or social situations, as well as the fact that they can be trained to be obedient. Of course many dogs are also trained as working dogs. Some blind people have a dog to assist them.

Dogs that assist the blind have been highly trained to provide protection and guidance for their owners, to help them out in day to day tasks that sometimes the visually impaired may find difficult. Dogs are of course also used by the police and armed forces.

Perhaps the the most common reason a dog is kept however, is companionship. A dog's loyalty and devotion to it's owner and vice verse, is a relationship that can sometimes rival that of a humans relationship with another human.
